Judging the Summer Youth Employment Program Business Pitch Competition

This past week I was invited to speak with a group of 14-16 year old inner Columbus city youth participating in the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP).

Our conversation consisted of work readiness, starting a small business, and how to give a business pitch. Being a young entrepreneur I was nervous because I am still learning everyday, but was very excited to share my story, hoping to inspire the students.

Days after presenting to the students I was grateful to be invited back by Paul Reeder and Jake Cohen to serve as a judge for the SYEP mini business pitch competition. I already expected to witness quality presentations, however I was BLOWN AWAY by the the amount of passion and hard work their presentations portrayed. Judging was difficult because every team was so deserving.

This was an unforgettable experience and a great reminder of the importance of lifting as we climb!

Advice: Do you remember what it was like in high school? Maybe your journey to success could have been fast tracked by participating in a program like the one above, or maybe from hearing or meeting an inspirational speaker? Go out in your communities and see how you can be THAT person you wish you had growing up! Lift as you climb.
